Dr. Diana Cardenas Elected to Institute of Medicine

Dr. Diana Cardenas, UW professor of rehabilitation medicine and director of the Northwest Regional SCI System, was elected in the fall of 2004 to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), a branch of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences. Election to the IOM is one of the highest honors in the fields of medicine and health, and currently there are only 1,416 U.S. members. The IOM serves as an independent, scientific adviser to the nation to improve health, and its mission embraces the health of people everywhere.
