The Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems Program

The national Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems Program, funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), supports model projects to establish innovative programs for the delivery, demonstration, and evaluation of comprehensive medical, vocational, and other rehabilitation services to meet the wide range of needs of individuals with spinal cord injuries.

For the current 2011-2016 funding cycle, there are 14 SCI Model Systems nationwide and one National SCI Model System Data Center. Each Model System works with the Model System Knowledge Translation Center to bring research and evidence-based health practices to consumers and providers. Grants are awarded every five years on a competitive bases.
